Starting Saturday, September 20, Metra passengers will find additional travel options on the UP-North route between Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Chicago. The new schedule will provide 15 inbound and 15 outbound trains on both Saturdays and Sundays. This represents an increase of four trains on Saturdays and 12 trains on Sundays. The increase does not include Ravinia trains, which operate only during the concert season.

With the new schedule, all trains along the route will see a shift in departure and arrival times as the schedule will now feature what is known as “clock-face schedules.” Instead of seeing random times at stations, each train will stop at each station at the same time. For example, Highland Park currently sees Saturday, Chicago-bound trains at 8:34 a.m., 9:10 a.m., 9:20 a.m., 10:34 a.m., etc. Starting September 20, Highland Park passengers will see all Chicago-bound trains at 54 minutes past the hour, like 8:54 a.m., 9:54 a.m., 10:54 a.m., and so on.

The expanded schedule will significantly improve service to and from Kenosha on weekends, providing a total of eight inbound and eight outbound trains. The schedule will also decrease gaps in weekend service by offering hourly departures from Waukegan or Chicago throughout most of the day.
