It’s no secret that the Los Angeles-New York City flight route is probably one of the most popular and revenue-generating for major US carriers. While American, Delta, and JetBlue fly between Los Angeles and New York’s Kennedy International Airport, United flies between Los Angeles and Newark International Airport. Each of the carriers offers more premium services on these routes than are typically found on domestic flights.
For many years, American has flown a unique aircraft on this routing that was more focused on premium seating, featuring the only domestic three-cabin aircraft with First, Business, and Main Cabin. Presently, American is expected to introduce new aircraft on this route sometime next year, but in the meantime, the carrier is making changes. Starting October 5, American will begin offering Premium Economy service on the transcontinental route.
Customers who choose Premium Economy on American’s transcontinental route receive Priority check-in, security, and boarding. Once on board, customers will find a personal amenity kit with premium skincare products and travel essentials. During the flight, customers can relax in wider seats with more legroom and comfortably rest with an Ostrichpillow® lumbar pillow and crepe weave blanket.
As part of the in-flight service, customers can enjoy complimentary drinks while savoring a hot meal, accompanied by a salad and dessert, served on fine china. Customers can easily charge their electronic devices with in-seat power and watch on-demand entertainment on larger monitors, accompanied by noise-reducing headphones.
Premium Economy service will be available on select flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) starting Oct. 5. Tickets will go on sale July 28 on aa.com and American’s mobile app.
